The Minister for Parks and Environment seeks expressions of interest from persons suitably qualified for appointment to the Wellington Park Management Trust (the Trust) as an Independent Chair.
The Trust is an independent management authority established under section 9 of the Wellington Park Act 1993 and meets five times each year.
The Trust is responsible for managing and protecting the diverse natural and cultural heritage of Wellington Park. The Park comprises 14 separate land parcels owned by the Crown, the City of Hobart and the Glenorchy City Council. The Trust's role is one of strategy and regulation, in partnership with on-ground management undertaken by the landowners.
The Trust develops and periodically updates the Wellington Park Management Plan, a statutory document that provides for sustainable opportunities for recreation and tourism, while conserving the environmental, cultural and water catchment values of the Park. The current Management Plan, released in 2013 and amended in 2015, is now being reviewed.
In accordance with the State Government's Women on Boards Strategy 2020-2025, women are strongly encouraged to apply.
Enquiries regarding the role should be directed to Amy Russell, General Manager of the Wellington Park Management Trust via email at amy.russell@wellingtonpark.org.au. Enquiries about the selection and appointment process should be directed to statutoryauthorities@nre.tas.gov.au.
To submit an expression of interest, please email statutoryauthorities@nre.tas.gov.au with a two-page statement that outlines your relevant qualifications and experiences, a current curriculum vitae and the details of two referees.
Expressions of interest close at 5pm on 19 May 2024.
