There are plenty of ways you can give something back to this special place. Community groups are doing good work in the Park and around the fringe, so roll up your sleeves and help us pull a weed, build a stone step or plant a tree.
The Friends of Wellington Park meet once a month to carry out on-ground works throughout the Park. They locate and remove significant weeds and assist with track maintenance, providing invaluable assistance to land managers especially in hard to reach, remote and rugged places. If you have some spare time check out their website Friends of Wellington Park or email wellingtonparkbushcare@gmail.com for information about their next working bee.
Many other groups operate around the Park fringe on projects that enhance the natural environment through hands–on participation. The City of Hobart’s Bushcare Program involves regular community working bees. Volunteers work at Waterworks Valley, South Hobart, Kangaroo Valley, Ridgeway, Friends of Knocklofty and Fern Tree. Groups usually meet once per month.
You can also help care for the Park by reporting illegal activities to the Ranger.
